Just wanted to hear everyone's opinion on my story-
A howl rang through the frigid air, dancing through the forest. Black paws flew across the snow-covered earth, carrying a wolf along the frozen forest terrian. The black wolf leaped over a rotten log, and landed silently. The wolf swirved to the right, then to the left. It howled again as the wolf entered an open area. He slowed to a stop, and began to walk around. His icey blue eyes searched the area, an Army helment on his head, the straps hanging. He walked up to the top of a hill, then he raised his muzzle to the endless grey skies and the falling snow. He let out a howl, a song of joy, respect, and message. His melody danced along the endless skies, and ran through the snow covered forest. He lowered his black muzzle, and bolted off the hill, his silver Army dog tags jingling. The wolf ran across the white meadow, and back into the forest. His black pelt was turning white from the snow. On his chest was a white spot, on his forehead a white spade, and a white moon cresent with a dot inbetween the two points on both of his hips. A white dorsal stripe ran from the tips of his ears, down his back, and to the tip of his tail. There was a blood red scar through his right eye, all his toes were white, and his fangs were at least 3in long. His Army helment was medium green, with a white spade on the sides.
He ran till he reached the base of a mountain, then he stopped. There were other wolves up the mountain, and one of them looked down. "Hey, Ark's back!!" The wolf barked, and the other wolves peered over the edge. Ark looked up at them, and he smiled. He began to ascend the mountain till he reached the others. One silver wolf trudged through the snow to Ark. "Any news of the Demons?" It asked. "Nothing. I only heard that they were goin' to do somethin' when we least expect it, General." Ark answered. General nodded slightly. "Well, then....Troops, be on your toes at all times!" He howled, turning around. Ark stood tall and raised his head, then he trotted over to the back of the troop. Then, another wolf came, this time running down the mountain. "Ah, Bunker! Any news this time?" General asked, looking up. Bunker ran down the mountain, sending snow tumbling down. She leaped down off the side of the mountain, and landed with a thud. "Nothing, Sir." She said, standing tall. Her sand camoflauge Army helment slightly tilted on her head, the straps hanging also. "Oh well....Better luck next time." General said, then he turned around. "If we are to beat the Demons, we need to be alert at all times!" He howled as Bunker made her way through the snow over to Ark. "Move out!!" General barked, then turned around, and began to climb the mountain. "So what happened?" Ark asked Bunker. The white wolf looked at him. She had teal going from her elbows down on all 4, her toes white, and her ears were teal tipped. A teal dorsal stripe from her nose to the tip of her tail. "Nothing happened. Ran around, saw nothing." Bunker said. They hung at least 10ft back from the troop, then began to ascend the mountain. "You?" Bunker asked. "Just saw 'em doin' nothin'." Ark said. They jumped up the side of the mountain, and it took them a while to get 20ft up the side. "Watch out Recruits! Ice ahead!" General yelled. "Oh goody, ice..." Ark said. They caoutiously made their way up. Then, Bunker slipped. She yelped, and fell. Ark thought quick, and he reached for her paw with his jaws. He locked his jaws on her paw, and Bunker hung there. "Thanks." She said as Ark pulled her up. They quickly caught up with the troop.
"Finally! We made it!" General said as he saw over the mountain top. When Ark and Bunker reached the top, they froze. "It's like a winter wonderland..." Bunker whispered. White forest covered the ground below the mountain, and continued till they reached other mountains very, very, very far off in the distance. Bunker slowly began to fallow the troop, then came Ark. "Okay troops. We'll camp here for the night." General said, finding himself a place to stay. Ark found a spot ontop a snowdrift. He went in circles, then he laid down. Bunker fallowed, and laid next to the snowdrift. Ark put his head on his paws, and closed his eyes. Bunker did the same, and the snow began to fall harder.
The sun began to peek through the dull clouds, sending rays of warnth to the life below. Ark shivered, then he streched out his forelegs. He yawned, and streached his back legs. Then, he stood, and looked around at the other wolves. 'No ones up....' He thought, and he leaped of the snowdrift. Bunker still slept, her tail around her and on her nose. Ark walked around the wolves, and when he reached the edge of the mountain top, he looked out onto the forest. 'It's like a miracle....' He thought. Ark lowered his head, then he trotted down the mountain top. He soon reached a frozen river, and he looked into the ice at his reflection. 'Who am I?' He thought. 'I'm Ark....Or, that's what I think.....' He dismissed the thought, and he put his forepaws on the ice. He jumped up with his front paws, then he landed hard on the ice. The ice cracked, then Ark did it again, and his paws went through the ice, into the frigid waters. "COLD!!" He howled softly. He withdrew his paws, then lowered his muzzle to drink.
Bunker jerk awoke, and she sighed. She shook her head, and slowly got up. "Uuh...Ark, you awake?" She asked, looking up at the top of the snowdrift. 'He's not there!!' She thought, and looked around. She spotted his pawprints, and she fallowed them till she saw him at the river. "How long have you been here?" She asked, trotting up to him. Ark raised his muzzle from the water, water dripping off his mouth. "Not long." He answered. Bunker lowered her head, and took a long sip of water. Suddenly, they heard a howl. "The General." Ark said, then he turned around, and ran to the troop, Bunker on his heels. When they reached the troops, they saw General looking over the edge. "What is it General?" Ark asked, skidding to a stop beside him. "A Demon scout...." He said, watching the Demon run into and through the forest. Ark and Bunker watched the scout also. General turned to them. "Fallow him, and see where he leads you guys to." He said. Ark and Bunker both nodded then saluted, and jumped off the mountain top in persuit.
Bunker ran along beside Ark, and they were fast. Soon, they saw the scout, and they slowed down. "We can't be seen." Ark whispered to Bunker. "You don't think I know that?" Bunker said, looking at him. She quietly laughed, and soon they both were laughing softly. They fallowed the Demon scout for miles, the troop fallowing them slowly. Ark slinked under a rotten log, the snow crunching under his feet. Bunker leaped over the log, and they silently crept after the scoundrel. The Demon Scout suddenly stopped, and Ark and Bunker froze. The scout turned out to be a fox, and the fox looked around. The 2 wolves hid behind trees, peering out to watch. The fox used his nose to lift a stick, and a hissing sound was heard. The fox again looked around, then went underground. The hissing sound was heard again and the stick lowered, and Ark and Bunker slowly crept out from behind the trees. "That was strange...." Ark said, slowly creeping up to the stick. Bunker slowly fallowed, and Ark sniffed the stick. He raised it with his snout, and the hissing sound came. He took a step back, and a door opened on the ground. When it opened, he peered inside, then slowly took a step in.
Ark looked around. It was a dirt tunnel that led to who-knows-what. Ark slowly closed his eyes. "What is it?" Bunker asked. Ark's icey blue eyes quickly opened. "I....I d-don't know..." He said. Bunker squeezed through, and once she saw it, she froze. A red-orange light was quietly glowing at the end of the tunnel. They both stared at the light, and it seemed to be taunting them, 'Come in.....Fallow the light....' Ark and Bunker slowly crept towards the light. 'What am I doin'? Snap outta it, Ark, you're makin' a fool of yourself!' He thought. Bunker pinned her ears down, and looked at Ark. They got closer and closer to the light. Then they reached it. Ark took a step, but there was nothing there. He quickly caught his balance, and peered down. There was a mammoth chamber, whitch the Demons kept their prisoners there.
Bunker shivered. "Holy toledo...." She whispered. "Father...." Ark whispered. His Father had been taken prisoner when Ark was just a little pup. Ark shook his head. "We gotta get closer." He said, taking a paw step on the wall. Bunker fallowed, and Ark quickly came down. They ran behind some boxes, hoping no one had seen them. Ark sat up against the boxes, and Bunker peered out from behind them. There was an red-orange light from the huge fire in the middle, and there were wolves being forced to work, hauling rocks up steep hills, making weapons, and even collecting food. The Demons had whips with spikes at the end. "This isn't good...." Bunker whispered. She withdrew her head, and sat up against the boxes. "What did you see?" Ark asked. Bunker shook her head. "Pain...The Demons are treating them like slaves, with the whips, and stuff...." She said, almost a little too loud. One Demon heard her. "What's that?" He said, looking at the boxes. Ark and Bunker froze. He walked over, and looked behind them. "INTRUDERS!!!!!" The Demon howled. Ark and Bunker bolted away, dodging the other wolves. All of the sudden, Ark skid to a stop. "Father..." He whispered, looking at an elderly Egyptian wolf. Ark ran over and nuzzled him. "Father, it's me, Ark..." He said. The Egyptian wolf looked at him. "Ark?" He said, "I can't believe i'm seeing you again." He said and nuzzled Ark. "Come on, we gotta get outta here." Ark said, leading his Father out of there. "You shall not take the slave!!" A Demon snarled, then ran up, and swung his whip. The whip stung the air, and came down on Ark's flank. He howled, and the Demon ripped the whip off, tearing Ark's fur. Bunker turned around, and lunged at the Demon. As she tackled them, she howled, "Take him and run!!!" Ark took his Father's scruff, and gently helped him up the hill. When they reached the outside, Ark turned, but before he left he said, "Father, stay here. If any Demons come, run as fast and far as you can." Ark ran back into the chamber, and his Father ran away from the chamber. Ark rocketed down the hill, and barreled into the Demon to help Bunker. He tackled the Demon, and sank his long fangs into the wolf's neck. Then, with one single move, he snapped it's neck. Ark leaped off, and ran behind Bunker. They soon ran out, and into the open. "We must run and find your Father." Bunker said. Ark ran, and Bunker was on his heels. They ran through the forest, swirving around trees and plants. Then they reached an open area, with an Egyptian wolf lying in the middle. Ark ran over, and nuzzled him. Bunker slowly walked up to them. "Are you okay?" The Egyptain wolf asked. "Yes...." Ark said, "Father, I would like you to meet my friend, Bunker." He said, looking at Bunker. Bunker bowed. "I am Anubis." He said, nodding his head slightly. Anubis was an orange wolf, with really light orange on his underbelly, chest, and the tip of his tail. There was white fur on his muzzle, showing his age. Anubis had on a black mast, with gold around the eye holes. There was navy blue cloth hanging down from the back of the mask, and it was fringed. The bottom of the cloth was gold, and Anubis had a navy blue band around his right foreleg, the ends gold. On both his upper thighs were The Eye of Lucifer/Udjat, and he had a necklace with the Star of David.
"We should be going." Ark said, helping Anubis up. Bunker walked beside them, and asked, "What are we going to do?" Ark looked at his croup, where he had been struck by the whip. The blood had stained his fur, and the gash was deep. He jerked his head back up. "I-....I don't know...." Ark said, lowering his head slowly. The snow began to fall, and they began to trudge back to the troop. As they trudged along the white forest, Ark heard something in the bush. "Stay still...." He whispered to them. Bunker took a step towards the bush, and she froze. "General?" She asked. General stepped out, revealing his blood-stained body. Gashes, cuts and bruises were all over him. General fell, but Bunker caught him and held him up. "What happened?" Anubis asked. General slowly closed, then opened his dull amber eyes that glowed, showing agony in the little moonlight. "The Demons.....They....Ambushed us..." General panted. The others gasped. "Well, where's the troop?" Bunker asked. "They..." General said, lowering his silver head, "They were all killed...." Ark lowered his head also, and closed his eyes, remembering his friends. 'They went down as heros....' He thought. Then, Ark jerked his head up, his eyes blazing. "That scout was a decoy!" He barked angerly. "What are we to do?" Anubis asked. General thought for a while. "I don't know..." He said, blood dripping of his muzzle and onto the snow, turning it red. General lowered himself onto the snow, and rested his bloody head on his large paws. 'I must find, and kill their leader!' Ark thought. They all laid down, and eventually fell into a troubled sleep.
Ark opened his eyes. He slowly got up, and walked back to the chamber in the moonlight. He silently padded up to where they left, and slowly went in. The fire's warmth greeted him, but he knew he was not welcome. Ark silently trotted over behind a barrel, and he looked over the top to observe what was going on. 'Prisioners being whipped, hauling rocks, gathering food, and making weapons....Strange...' He thought. He crept out from behind the barrel, and he darted over to the wall. 'Stairs!!!' He thought, and bolted up them. When Ark reached the top, he looked down at the whole chamber. Suddenly, he felt a tap. Ark turned, and saw a Demon, but the Demon raised a hammer, and swung it against Ark's head. He fell limp, and the Demon smiled. "Take this spy to the barraks." It said, and more Demons appeared, and dragged Ark off.
The sun rose, bringing warmth for a while. Bunker awoke, and looked around. "Ark?" She said, getting up. Anubis and General were still in a deep sleep. She walked around looking for him for a while, then returned to the others. She gently nudged them, saying, "Come on, wake up! Ark's gone!" Anubis jerked awake after what he heard her say. "Gone?!?!" He said worridly. "Yes, I can't find him anywhere." Bunker said, sitting down. Anubis walked up to her. "Don't you worry. We'll find him one way or another. Besides, Ark is a strong wolf." He said, trying to comfort her. She looked up and him. "Come on. Let's all go search." Anubis said, and walked over to General. "Come on, wake up!" He said, nudging General. General woke, and Anubis told him that they were going to search for Ark. "Come, help us." Anubis said, and helped General up. "Let's go...." General said, and they set off.
Ark slowly opened his eyes. "Wh-....Where am I?" He asked looking around. It was cold and damp. He was in a cell, all his paws chained up. Ark shook, only to feel pain. "Aakk...." He whispered, and slowly laid back down, closing his eyes. Suddenly, he heard an evil laugh. "Thought you could get away, did you?" A hissing voice said. Then, a golden wolf came out of the shadows. Ark painfully opened his eyes. "Wh-...Who are y-..You?" He managed to say. "I, stupid mutt, am George." He said. Ark had a confused look in his eyes. "George? That's not an evil name...." Ark said, shaking his head. George snarled, leaped, and pinned Ark to the ground. "Don't you EVER insult me!!" George snarled. "Or else what?" Ark asked. George raised his paw, and extended his very sharp claws. "This!" George growled, and swung his claws at Ark. George's claws landed on Ark's neck, gashing his throat. Ark gaged, and coughed hard. "Guards, whip him untill he tells you where the Spirit troop is." George said, then left. A Guard came in. It's pelt was blood red, and they had a black cloth mask. Ark looked up at the Guard, knowing this would not be easy. The Red Wolf raised her whip, and it peirced the air. "Where is the Spirit troop?" She hissed. "I will NEVER tell!!" Ark howled in agony. She whipped again and again. Still Ark wouldn't tell. Ark's blood started to turn the whip red, and she whipped again. "I will ask you one more time. WHERE IS THE SPIRIT TROOP?!?!?!" She snarled, and whipped Ark many more times. "I will NEVER tell!!!" Ark vowed. She whipped for hours, and hours. Soon, Ark passed out from blood loss. The guard hissed. "You fool." He growled, turned, then left the cage.
Bunker howled, her ears perked. Hearing nothing but an echoe, she howled again, hoping Ark would reply. Nothing. Slowly, she turned around to Anubis and General, who were sitting below some trees. "Where else could he be?" She asked. Anubis had been half asleep, dreaming of the painfull days at the camp. He suddenly jerked awake. "CAMP!!!" He shouted. General and Bunker froze, staring at him. Anubis looked from General's face, to Bunker's. "What? I was just saying he could be at the camp...." He said proudly. "THAT'S IT!! Yesterday, Ark said he must find and kill the leader, so he's most likely there!!" Bunker shouted, then bolted off in the chamber's direction. Anubis and General looked at eachother, then quickly got up, and ran as fast as they could to catch up with Bunker.
A howl rang through the frigid air, dancing through the forest. Black paws flew across the snow-covered earth, carrying a wolf along the frozen forest terrian. He said worridly.
